Leather Arrow Quiver as a Harvest Wreath

Leather Arrow Quiver as a Harvest Wreath

I have a LONG history now of decorating my front door each season with various wreaths. And because I’m an upcycling blogger, I have a tendency to repurpose something random into a wreath. As long as it can be hung on a door, it has wreath potential, right? And for an autumn wreath, I decided to upcycle a leather arrow quiver into a harvest wreath for my front door.

Because, let’s face it- for whatever reason, Fall lends itself well to unusual door decor and unexpected “wreaths”

So, my plans for this leather quiver would fit right in!

Autumn Wreath Idea with a Leather Arrow Quiver

Now, even though I don’t hunt or even go fishing, I recognize that autumn is a celebration of the harvest. And in that theme of harvest decor, I purchased this leather arrow quiver to create my harvest wreath.

I found it on eBay, isn’t wonderful?

It was this exquisite combination of ruggedness and beauty- rustic, romantic, maybe even sexy.

And to fill the leather hip quiver, I hunted down (pun intended) some vintage wooden arrows that I found at an antiques shop on one of my Junkin’ Journeys.

So, I arranged the wooden arrows in the leather hip quiver and hung it on our front door.

I liked it…a lot. But I didn’t “love” it as much as I had hoped, it needed a little more “oomph” to make a bigger impact, in my opinion.

So, I began to play around with some fall foliage stems from Michaels…

THAT was what it needed, some fall leaves to fill out the leather arrow quiver!

I could almost hear crunching leaves beneath the feet my favorite fictional archers- Robin Hood, Legolas, and Katniss Everdeen.

Ultimately, I combined everything- wooden arrows, dried wheat, and faux autumn foliage- in my leather arrow quiver. It was the best of all worlds and punched up my harvest wreath exactly as I had hoped.

I thought that dried wheat might resemble an arrow’s fletching. So, if you couldn’t find wooden arrows, dried wheat would be a perfectly pleasing (and inexpensive) alternative.

Isn’t a leather arrow quiver absolutely ideal when repurposed as an autumn wreath and harvest decor? And so much fun to fill with everything related to fall.

I’m also thrilled to announce that my first book is now available! If you love working with flannel or fabric crafts in general (sewing and non-sewing), then you will LOVE “Crafting with Flannel”
