Sadie Spotlight: Creatively Obsessed Designs

Sadie Spotlight: Creatively Obsessed Designs

By now, y’all know how much I love repurposed jewelry, and sometimes, I even create my own. So when I stumbled across Creatively Obsessed Designs on Instagram, I was instantly smitten- gorgeous, one-of-a-kind jewelry from repurposed and upcycled vintage buttons. But not just any old buttons from your grandmother’s button box…

Seriously the most stunning buttons I’d ever seen!

I fell in love with about 10 necklaces all at once…and decided right then and there that I needed to find out more about the artist, Selena Braunstein, and her creations, so that I could tell everyone I knew about them! Prepare to be enchanted…Read more ›

Sadie Spotlight: RMK Collection

As everyone should know by now, I am a HUGE fan of upcycled vintage jewelry. It’s something I love to do myself, but even more so, I love finding new artisans that create amazing pieces for me to add to my collection! Last spring, I attended a local vintage market and absolutely fell in love with a new-to-me booth, RMK Collection. It was hard for me to pick a single item to purchase, but I ended up with a sublime bracelet made from an old school locker tag and a broken brooch.Read more ›

Sadie Spotlight: Chürp – Modern Birdhomes

Back in September 2014, I attended Indie Craft Parade here in Greenville. While shopping, a friend snapped a photo of me holding my latest purchase. Lo and behold, I noticed the most amazing bird houses behind me in the photo!

Check out the photobomber behind me!

Having grown up outside of Chicago with both my parents and grandparents hailing from Oak Park, I am all too familiar with mid-century modern architecture and the genius of Frank Lloyd Wright. In fact, my grandparents volunteered at the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio, giving tours and the like. So, for sentimental reasons, I was particularly drawn to Matt Estrada’s amazing creations and his company, chürp- Modern Birdhomes.

Clearly I need one of these pieces for my backyard- I’m always looking to expand my wildlife habitat options! And I also wanted to know more about chürp …so without further delay…Read more ›

Sadie Spotlight: Hawks and Doves

You may recall that I attended something called the Indie Craft Parade back in September…a weekend-long festival dedicated to handcrafted, functional, obtainable arts and crafts right here in Greenville, South Carolina. I bought a fantastic tote bag there- handcrafted from waxed canvas and a salvaged feed sack- from Hawks and Doves. Now, truth be told, this was my SECOND Hawks and Doves purchase because I just LOVE her stuff.

My beloved H&D bags.

Sadie Spotlight: Kate DiNatale Vintage

Let’s be honest for a moment- style and fashion from 50, 60, 70 years ago (and further back than that!) is really unparalleled. No offense to my t-shirt and jeans, but they really don’t hold a candle to the dresses, suits, and accessories of bygone eras. So imagine my giddy surprise when I first walked into Olde Faithful’s Antique Mall and found the Kate DiNatale Vintage booth- it was truly love at first sight…and first “oooooh!”

I love vintage clothing…but I don’t know much about it. Kate is my go-to expert… So without further delay, may I present my spotlight on Kate DiNatale Vintage…Read more ›

Sadie Spotlight: Maliasmark

Sadie Spotlight: Maliasmark

As a frequenter of South Carolina’s various arts/crafts and vintage-themed markets, I’ve come to discover artisans and like-minded folks that I genuinely look forward to seeing. And Malia Schopf, the artist, upcycler, and picker-extraordinare behind Maliasmark is no exception.

I’ve always considered Maliasmark to be a project muse- there are always bins of rusty, industrial goodies and architectural salvage…”smalls” like buttons, dolls, photos, and paper ephemera…and larger salvaged wares, like ladders, picture frames, film canisters, and vintage luggage. But she’s an artist, too, and has talent beyond anything I could imagine. She’s a renaissance woman with a love for the past- see why I wanted to spotlight her?

So let’s not delay…Read more ›

Sadie Spotlight: Restoration 41

If you read my first post here on Sadie Seasongoods, then you might remember the dresser I purchased from Restoration 41– large and proud, with its dark stained top and ever-so-lightly distressed off-white body, punctuated by robin’s egg blue knobs.Read more ›
