Flannel Covered Books for Autumn Décor

Flannel Covered Books for Autumn Décor

I think it’s high time I create another flannel project, don’t you? The weather is finally feeling Fall-ish and I am craving all the cozy plaid…and today’s project also has a special twist. All of my project materials came from thrift stores that benefit an animal-based charity! I’ve partnered with several other bloggers to highlight these lesser-known thrift stores with a collection of fun transformation projects.Read more ›

Monkey Pod Wood Pumpkin Trays: Simple Fall Décor

Monkey Pod Wood Pumpkin Trays: Simple Fall Décor

Funny, but true, story about this project- it all started out when I found this apple-shaped monkey pod wood tray at the thrift store. It was May…so Spring was on my mind…and I told myself I’d make a cute apple project in the Fall.Read more ›

Buffalo Check Tray Décor for Autumn

Buffalo Check Tray Décor for Autumn

This project, my friends, was driven entirely by my obsession with one of Funky Junk Interiors’ most recent stencils. She created PLAID stencils for her Old Sign Stencil Shop, and I have been positively mad for the Buffalo check version. For the longest time, I had no idea what I’d use it on…until I spied these quirky wooden cafeteria-style trays…Read more ›

Upcycled Alcohol Ink Glass Pumpkins

Upcycled Alcohol Ink Glass Pumpkins

Every now and then, I choose to work on a project based on a crafting technique, as opposed to a really unique repurposing idea. And this, my friends, is one of those projects! Back in the Spring, I spotted this glass pumpkin at the thrift…autumn was months away, but I had a flickering idea. I’d been looking for a way to try out alcohol ink paints for a long time…and wouldn’t this piece be a great opportunity to play around with them? Read more ›

Horse Brass Tablecloth Weights

Horse Brass Tablecloth Weights

I don’t exactly know why, but when I think of anything horse-related, I imagine it in an autumn setting. I can’t really explain why this is, and maybe it makes no sense…but when I think of horses, I think of plaid blankets, leather accessories, and crisp Fall air. I know, it’s silly- but I can’t disconnect the two!

So, when I was at a thrift store the other day, rifling through one of their “Rummage Boxes”, I spotted a vintage horse brass…and then I saw a whole collection of them. I held them in my palm for a moment, running my hands over the smooth glowing medal, transferring their weight from hand to hand, and an idea came to mind. And in automatic Sadie fashion, I knew it was meant to be an autumn project.Read more ›

Bourbon Bottle Pumpkins & Gourds

Bourbon Bottle Pumpkins & Gourds

It’s been over a year since we’ve been allowed to recycle glass in our area- and every time I have to toss a glass bottle, it breaks my heart again and again. And in the year (plus) that has passed, we have most definitely altered our shopping habits to be more mindful of this problem. But there are simply some things- like bourbon!- that only come in glass. After our junkin’ journey trip to Louisville, our interest in bourbon grew, so we’ve been in a bit of a quandary.Read more ›

Flannel Scrap Reusable Hand Warmers

Flannel Scrap Reusable Hand Warmers

I have a confession to make: Once I made my super-popular Fall Table Runner, I became completely obsessed with plaid and/or flannel projects. I’ll go ahead and apologize now because after a few weeks, you may be rolling your eyes at me. Read more ›

Repurposed Flannel Shirt Fall Table Runner

Repurposed Flannel Shirt Fall Table Runner

Back in early Spring when I created my Dyed Doily Table Runner, I was already envisioning an autumn version- with doilies dyed to look like chrysanthemums. AND, I even bought some vintage doilies that had orange and gold hues.

I was *convinced* that that was the plan.

But you know me- I start thrifting and picking and new ideas formed. So I packed up my doilies and dye for another time.Read more ›

Autumn Pumpkin Trinket Box…from Salad Bowls!

Autumn Pumpkin Trinket Box…from Salad Bowls!

There are certain project supplies…or “idea” supplies… that I stalk thrift stores for until I finally find them, and this project is the perfect example of that. I’ve been on the hunt for wooden salad bowls for months and months and rarely saw any in a shape that I could work with. I was being picky, yes, but as of last week, IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT!Read more ›
