Smoke Rings: Cigar Box Ring Holder

Smoke Rings: Cigar Box Ring Holder

So, if my memory is correct, I’ve made a Bracelet Holder…a Necklace Rack…and a Brooch/Pin Holder so far. Obviously I needed to work on something for my rings, so here we go!Read more ›

Organization: The Easiest Upcycle

Organization: The Easiest Upcycle

Earlier this month, I did a repurposing-based video shoot for a local thrift store. I was able to choose the theme of it (beyond just upcycling and repurposing) and because it was in the earliest days of January, I chose to focus on Organization. “Getting organized” is often a New Year’s resolution for folks, and I don’t know about you, but getting organized sounds a lot more fun that losing weight or saving money!Read more ›

“Found Objects” Brooch Holder

“Found Objects” Brooch Holder

I have to admit, this project is a play on an idea I saw on Pinterest. The original idea involved an antique oil can, with a large industrial spindle slid onto the long spout. Then, rolls of jute were pushed onto the spindle- and ta-da, a pin holder!

I loved the idea, but I was a little concerned about placing an old oil can on my dresser. Sure, I have a handful of them- but they’ve stayed untouched because I’m not overly excited about finding a way to clean them…and possibly drain them, as needed.

Spool Your Jewels- Necklace Rack

Spool Your Jewels- Necklace Rack

You’ve probably figured out by now that I’m a bit of a jewelry hoarder; Accessories have always been my “thing”. Funky necklaces, flowing scarves, and quirky handbags have always trumped any outfit I’ve worn- as is the fate of many short, round gals.

And today’s post is no exception- creating a jewelry display using two of my favorite items: salvaged wood and vintage wooden spools wound with rich, glossy thread.Read more ›

Picture Frame Remix- The Vanity Tray

Picture Frame Remix- The Vanity Tray

It’s hard not to love a pretty mirrored vanity tray on your dresser. And there are a lot of options available- from plain beveled mirrors, to brass filigree, to large hand mirrors given a new purpose. Some (not all) can be a little pricey, so I wanted to give the ole’ DIY a try using a rectangular picture frame and some special paint.

Caffeinated Cuff Rack- Mug Tree Bracelet Holder

Caffeinated Cuff Rack- Mug Tree Bracelet Holder

Alright, this really isn’t a “craft”. All it entails is painting.

BUT, that means anyone- and I mean ANYONE- can do it. You don’t even need “craft supplies”.

I had first seen this set-up at thrift store counters. Now, they didn’t do the paint job that I’m talking about here, but turning a thrifted coffee mug tree into a bracelet display is definitely not a complicated (or even novel) idea. In fact, here are the motor skills required: (1) Grasp coffee mug; (2) Slide mug off stick; (3) Grasp bracelet; and (4) Slide bracelet onto stick.Read more ›
