Not too long ago, I posted a photo on my Facebook page that garnered a LOT of attention- an embroidered flower on a vintage mesh strainer. It was gorgeous and unique…and I was immediately struck with an idea of my own. Why not do something similar with a vintage aluminum colander, the kind that is covered in stars??
Any time I’m in a secondhand shop, I always peruse the linens section- and not just for vintage bed sheets, I swear! Every now and then, I’ll happen across some vintage embroidery- perhaps a table runner, or napkins…or some other piece that is too precious to pass up.
But many of those thrifted embroidered treasures have not aged well…be it stains or holes.
Even with those flaws, though, I still feel compelled to purchase them even if they simply get stowed away in a plastic bin for who-knows-how-long. Because, really, what am I going to do with something moth-eaten and threadbare?Read more ›
