Cool & Coastal Upcycled Project Ideas

Cool & Coastal Upcycled Project Ideas

For years and years, I lived near the coast in South Florida- both on the Atlantic side and the Gulf side. And even though I am now landlocked in the Appalachian foothills, I still enjoy the tranquility of coastal décor- whether it’s the white/aqua/tan color palette or the childhood beach memories it conjures up, there’s just something about it that’s breezy and relaxing. I mean, really, who knew décor could feel breezy?Read more ›

Wine Rack to Ribbon “Cradle”

Wine Rack to Ribbon “Cradle”

I think we can all agree that my mind works in mysterious ways- sometimes it’s a great thing (when a project works out!) and sometimes it’s bothersome (when a project fails). But once again, there I was in a thrift store, looking at everything through Sadie-colored glasses…including this very unassuming (and unexciting) wicker/metal wine rack.Read more ›

Reader’s Choice 2015: Your Favorite Projects from Sadie Seasongoods

…and just like that, it’s nearly time to bring 2015 to a close. The end of this year snuck up on me like nobody’s business- somehow we went from Labor Day to Christmas in the blink of an eye.

I know just about all bloggers do a “Best of” post to close out the calendar year, so I appreciate you humoring me as we skip and frolic down memory lane. Some of you will recall these from months gone by, and for the friendly faces that are new to my little corner of the internet- you picked a great time to find me! I wrangled together the 12 most-viewed project posts from 2015- many of which won’t be surprises for long-time friends…but there are always a few that make me go, “Huh. So that one was popular?!”.

I’ll probably never get the chance to thank everyone individually, but please know that your kind words, your ideas, your funny comments, your shares, your social media follows, and your subscriptions mean the absolute world to me. I know, I know…I tend to get a little sappy.

So without further ado, your top 12 favorites from 2015 are…

Repurposed Cheese Dome Ice Skating Pond

Repurposed Cheese Dome Ice Skating Pond

To this day, some of my favorite Christmas decorations include my waterless snowglobes. I don’t know what it is about them- perhaps that I made them myself…and that they include vintage “bits”… but I just love that look: A quintessential Christmas scene captured under glass.

While out thrifting a few weeks ago, I came across this cheese board/dome that just screamed “REPURPOSE ME!”. I knew right away that I could use the idea of a waterless snowglobe with the cheese dome, so it came home with me.Read more ›

A Thankful Round-Up: Holiday Projects & Recipes from My Favorite Bloggers

A Thankful Round-Up: Holiday Projects & Recipes from My Favorite Bloggers

Now that I’ve gotten in the habit of creating a month- or seasonally-themed round-up post (Back-to-School projects in September…Halloween projects in October…etc.), I needed to create an appropriate post for November. Autumn or holiday projects were an obvious choice, but I’ve decided to focus on the theme of “Thankful” instead of Fall.

I’m always singing the praises of my wonderfully supportive husband, Jon, because he is my blog’s biggest supporter. No one in my life knows just how much I put into this as he does…but my fellow bloggers also understand. They know…they know just how difficult and time-consuming it can be, yet we love it and continue on, even when the path is rocky. And so many bloggers have been tremendously supportive of me- by featuring Sadie projects, or sending me sweet notes, or even answering silly questions I’ve had along the way.

So this is my bloggy thank-you note to them: Autumn/Holiday/Christmas projects and recipes from my network of online friends, fellow bloggers that put their hard work out there, day after day. Blood, sweat, tears…sawdust and sprinkles. Thank you for all that you do…Read more ›

Vintage Light Fixture Halloween Moon

Vintage Light Fixture Halloween Moon

I’ll admit it- when it comes to vintage, salvaged light fixtures, I am an addict. For whatever reason, they are a constant source of inspiration…particularly during Halloween. And leave it to me to completely forget about a large, amazing light globe that I had purchased several years ago. It had gotten pushed back to the far reaches of my Craft Room, where it has been hibernating for way too long!Read more ›

Goodwill Blogging: From Thrift to Gift

Goodwill Blogging: From Thrift to Gift

A new month means a new upcycled project for The Good Life Blog! If you’ll recall, I was asked to be a part of this fun group of thrifty bloggers, brought together by Goodwill Industries of the Upstate/Midlands South Carolina.

September usually marks the start of “Pumpkin-Flavored-Everything” Season… and for me, that means scrumptious flavored coffee! I guess chilly weather and hot beverages were on my mind the last time I was in my local Goodwill store because while I was in the kitchen section, I found these two cute wooden bins!Read more ›

Spooky Silhouettes: A Halloween Profile

Spooky Silhouettes: A Halloween Profile

What is with me and embroidery hoops when it comes to Halloween? I wish I could tell you why I keep gravitating to them for Halloween décor projects- such as my spiderwebs and my sweater hoops.

But I don’t have a good explanation- the ideas just keep coming!Read more ›

Upcycling 101: Repurposed School and Classroom Items

Upcycling 101: Repurposed School and Classroom Items

Now that we’re knee-deep in September, I think we can officially say that summer is ending, Fall is nearly here, and school has most definitely started! I don’t know about you, but I am definitely a fan of vintage/classic classroom staples- rulers, globes, pencil sharpeners, lockers, desks, and everything in between. Who would have ever guessed how hot a trend this would be? Go ahead, Google “Schoolhouse Décor”…it’s totally a thing.Read more ›

Door Gourd: Paper Plate Holder Jack-o-Lantern Décor

Door Gourd: Paper Plate Holder Jack-o-Lantern Décor

Whenever I develop a simple project that relies on readily available thrift store items, I get an extra charge of satisfaction. And this Halloween-themed project is no exception- while I was at my local Goodwill, I simply couldn’t get away from these wicker / rattan paper plate holders- there were a TON of these in the housewares section.Read more ›
