Oval Frame “Easter Eggs”

Oval Frame “Easter Eggs”

I can’t quite explain why I love vintage oval picture frames so much…but I just DO! And when I see them in thrift shops, I snap them up, no questions asked. While brainstorming for new project ideas (by tidying up my Craft Room), I realized something:

Oval picture frames look a little like Easter eggs…Read more ›

Reader’s Choice 2016: Your Favorite Sadie Seasongoods Projects

Reader’s Choice 2016: Your Favorite Sadie Seasongoods Projects

Like a bull in a china shop…

Especially when “the world” is the china shop and “ 2016 ” is the bull! It’s been a rough-and-tumble year for many folks across the globe and I suspect that there are more than a few of us that are happy to bid farewell to such a pummeling year.

But there were a few bright spots (for me)- like the Chicago Cubs winning the 2016 World Series- and yet another tremendously satisfying year of blogging. Even when the world seems like a dark, dark place…the light in my workshop flickers to life and I can repurpose-DIY-upcycle-create through it all. And then I get to share it with you! (Both the hits AND the misses, haha!)Read more ›

I think we can all agree that my mind works in mysterious ways- sometimes it’s a great thing (when a project works out!) and sometimes it’s bothersome (when a project fails). But once again, there I was in a thrift store, looking at everything through Sadie-colored glasses…including this very unassuming (and unexciting) wicker/metal wine rack.

Doesn’t look like much…

It wasn’t old or unusual in any way…truly a thrift store wall flower blending in with its surroundings. But, its shape definitely sparked my imagination…

Thrifted Glass Lid Hanging Bird Bath

Thrifted Glass Lid Hanging Bird Bath

Once upon a time, we had a hanging bird bath, the concept of which I really liked. BUT, it was plastic and an absolute bear to clean and refill- needless to say, it didn’t come with us when we moved!

Replacing it has been on my upcycling to-do list for quite some time, and I finally set my mind to it. Y’all know I love to create a good outdoor/yard project, too!Read more ›

I Felt Some Balls… For the Dryer!

I Felt Some Balls… For the Dryer!

So, let me get this straight… creating your own DIY Felted Wool Dryer Balls is a project that will (1) cost me very little up front and save me a LOT in the long run, (2) is FAR better for our planet, and (3) is super easy to do?

Why have I waited so long to try this?! This post contains affiliate links for your crafting convenience.Read more ›

Take a Seat- Let’s Wrap!

Take a Seat- Let’s Wrap!

Ok, so here’s the skinny when it comes to me and gift wrap storage: For years and years, I have stored our meager selection of gift wrap rolls in the box from our vacuum cleaner. No really, I have!Read more ›

Round Trip: Oval-Framed Vintage Road Maps

Round Trip: Oval-Framed Vintage Road Maps

A couple of months ago, I posted a photo on my Sadie Seasongoods Facebook page– it was a project I had worked on a year ago, before I had even started my blog. The response on Facebook was overwhelming- folks LOVED the oval-framed maps. Framing maps is something I love to do and I regularly create new ones for my Etsy shop.Read more ›

Thrifted Sweater Halloween Hoops

Thrifted Sweater Halloween Hoops

Embroidery hoops and Halloween… who knew they could go hand in hand for so many projects?

Especially when you throw in a $1 bright orange sweater from the thrift store. White tag clothing was $1 the other day at a local thrift store… and with Halloween on my mind, coupled with the desire to curl up on the couch with Netflix and a sewing project…well, the $1 orange sweater came home with me.

Definitely NOT my color…but perfectly festive for Halloween.

Using an old sweater as the backdrop for embroidery is nothing new… but it’s typically a Christmas-time project. Why not switch it up for Halloween with some spooky hoops? This post contains affiliate links for your crafting convenience.Read more ›

Pretty Pattern Peonies: Sewing Pattern Paper Flowers

Pretty Pattern Peonies: Sewing Pattern Paper Flowers

Full disclosure- I’m not really a Faux Flowers kind of gal. I prefer real flowers, of course, but more importantly, anything that sticks out of a vase is just a disaster waiting to happen for our friend, Cottonball.Read more ›

Picture Frame Remix- The Vanity Tray

Picture Frame Remix- The Vanity Tray

It’s hard not to love a pretty mirrored vanity tray on your dresser. And there are a lot of options available- from plain beveled mirrors, to brass filigree, to large hand mirrors given a new purpose. Some (not all) can be a little pricey, so I wanted to give the ole’ DIY a try using a rectangular picture frame and some special paint.
