Shopping in Hendersonville, NC: Best Antiques, Vintage, and Thrift Stores

Shopping in Hendersonville, NC: Best Antiques, Vintage, and Thrift Stores

Western North Carolina is one of the prettiest places, full of mountains and adorable small towns. And one of those towns is Hendersonville, NC. Just south of the larger and more well-known Asheville, Hendersonville is about as charming as it gets. AND it happens to be a treasure trove of thrift stores and vintage / antiques shops waiting to be explored.

Years ago, I did one of my Junkin’ Journey blog posts on Hendersonville. But that post is SEVERELY outdated – so I treated myself to a return trip for a fresh new take.

There are just SO many great shops in here for the secondhand shopper like myself. So, if you are looking for things to do in Hendersonville, NC, a little thrifting and antiquing should be on your list.

Hendersonville, NC Shopping for Antiques, Vintage, and Thrift

Amazing Grace Ministries Vintage and Thrift Shoppe

Located just outside of downtown’s main drag, Amazing Grace Ministries Vintage & Thrift was a new-to-me shop that I was excited to check out. And it did not disappoint! With creaking wood floors and TONS of vintage goodies, I spent way too much time perusing each and every booth. From “mantiques” to shabby chic, there was a little bit of everything here – and I wanted it all!

Blue Ridge Humane Society Thrift Store

By now you probably know that I will fall over myself to go to a thrift store that benefits animal welfare. And I’m always disappointed when a town doesn’t have one. Thankfully, Hendersonville not only has one, but has a GREAT one!

I’ve been going to Blue Ridge Humane Society Thrift Store for years, long before I even had a blog. It’s always one of my first stops in town, with its tremendous selection of housewares and a non-stop supply of vintage treasures, too.

The Garage on 25

The Garage on 25 has been on my radar every since it opened and I HATE that I waited so long to check it out! It touched on all of my sweet spots – some antiques / vintage, some hand made goods, some upcycled projects, and some artisan creations!

While technically located in Fletcher, NC – it’s not far from the other shops I’ve included here and you do NOT want to miss it, trust me. Plus, there’s a connected coffee shop, as well, so you can sit a spell as you soak up the whimsy throughout the shop.

The Council on Aging Thrift Store

Whenever I do one of my Junkin’ Journeys to new towns, I love finding local thrift shops that directly benefit agencies / groups in that immediate area. And The Council on Aging Thrift Store is a delightful and heart-warming example of that. This thrift shop helps fund Meals on Wheels in Hendersonville, NC, which warmed my spirit and made me love it before I even stepped inside.

Thankfully, it was a lovely thrift store with a healthy selection of clothing, furniture, books, linens, and housewares – everything I could hope for!

Honeysuckle Hollow

Right off the bat, I should mention that Honeysuckle Hollow is not specifically an antiques or vintage shop. But, the vintage that it DOES carry is wonderfully curated and displayed, and, well…I just love going inside this shop.

It’s curiously magical, as if you’ve stepped into a fairy glade somewhere deep in a forest. There is personality in every corner of Honeysuckle Hollow, inviting to take a closer look. Consider it more a gift shop…maybe shopping for someone else, but mostly for you!

Junk & Disorderly Resale

With a name like that, how could I resist checking it out? And boy oh boy, this is truly a neck-craning shop. The kind of shop that you drive by and crane your neck out the window to take it all in! It’s also what I call a “digging store”; the kind of place where treasures are piled and jumbled together, and you need to dig through to see it all.

As you can see, all I did was take photos of the sidewalk outside because there were so many treasures to be found!

Safelight Resale Store

Another one of my longtime favorite thrift stores in Hendersonville, NC is Safelight Resale. They have a HUGE selection of housewares (effectively the entire perimeter of the store) and I never, ever go away empty handed. They also benefit a very worthy cause (local victims of interpersonal violence), which makes shopping there even better. It’s located in the middle of downtown, making it easy to walk to if you’re exploring the main drag.

*****

A couple of other noteworthy shops to consider for your trip to Hendersonville, NC – Four Seasons Hospice Home Store is a GREAT thrift store here, also located downtown. It has probably the biggest and best selection of furniture of any thrift store in the area. And their housewares selection is nothing to sneeze at, as well.

And if you’re looking for more “traditional” antique malls in Hendersonville, NC, you can check out Needful Things (commericial area of town) and Village Green Antique Mall (downtown). I didn’t include them above simply because as an upcycler, I tend to prefer quirkier shops and thrift stores.

*****

Hopefully I didn’t miss any amazing antique stores or thrift stores in Hendersonville, but please let me know if I did. And don’t forget – I’ve gone junkin’ to other places, too- check out all the places I’ve traveled to here and start planning your own junkin’ journey!

Thanks so much for reposting this blog. I’m headed to NC in August was deciding when to leave and now I will stay another day. Any suggestions on where to stay?

    • Sadie Seasongoods says

I wish I could help you out with that, but I live close enough to Hendersonville to do it as a day trip. I’m so sorry!

Thank you so much, Jon Maria! Have you spent much time in Hendersonville before?

      • JM Taylor says

Yes, we try to get over there in the fall for apple picking and the Apple Festival on Labor Day weekend. We’ve been to a few of the places you mentioned but not all. Can’t wait to go check them out!

  3. You hit all my favorites, I wish I had known you were coming here, I’d have met you for lunch!!

    • Sadie Seasongoods says

Argh!! But, in all truth, I’m kind of a maniac on my trips…fitting in so many stores in a single day plus driving back and forth from home! I wish they could be more leisurely days, LOL.

I enjoy your posts like this. Sometimes we travel within the state for my wife’s conferences, and a list of places for me to visit while she’s doing her thing would be great.

  5. Maggie Martin says

I am sooo very jealous! We have junk stores and they are just that here in Northern Nevada. Nothing like these treasure stores that you have access to.
Keep them coming, I am living vicariously (sp?)
    Thaks,

    Maggie

  6. Looks like you hit the jackpot!!!! We love Hendersonville as well. We live about an hour from Hendersonville so when we get a chance we go. I love your blog site and all you do and show us. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to what you have for us for the summer!!!

  7. I’m so Excited to see this post. I’m going to be spending a few days in Hendersonville in October. I knew there were some great opportunities but now i have a list of must sees!
    I’m ready to go now!

  8. I was so envious that you got to visit all these places. My eyes just darted from shelf to shelf! Where I am in Maine just doesn’t have the variety of thrift shops. As I am fond of saying, I can’t afford antiques, I can afford fleas! Did hit a book sale this weekend and came home with 8 bags of books. Treasures!

  9. Deb - NC says

You missed a few good ones – Marketplace on Locust, very close to Amazing Grace, and First Contact Resale on King and Second I think. Also right across the street from Blue Ridge Humane resale is Feather Your Nest – mostly consignment but amazing inventory. Sounds like you need another trip!

    • Sadie Seasongoods says

I hit more stores than I posted – but I only blog about my favorites! (These posts aren’t meant to be a comprehensive list of every single store in an area)
