Picture Frame Wreath as Neutral Fall Decor

Picture Frame Wreath as Neutral Fall Decor

I recently had a chance to work with Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont, which serves the Charlotte area. They asked me to create a simple project for them using something that is regularly available at their thrift stores. So, I decided to create a picture frame wreath for them, and went with a neutral fall decor theme.

Because, let’s face it. Picture frames are PLENTIFUL at Goodwill stores, or any thrift store for that matter.

As I sat at my desk thinking of the kind of picture frame wreath I wanted to make, I was inspired by this framed cork board project of mine.

It, too, started as a plain old picture frame. So, I decided to borrow the colors from my cork board for some neutral fall decor.

Making a Picture Frame Wreath

Now, I’ve upcycled  MANY picture frames in my day. And we all know I love a good wreath project

But I’d never combined the two in a single blog post before! And I was excited to give it a try.

So, I headed to a couple of my local Goodwill thrift stores in search of the right picture frame. I ended up selecting this one which was brand new and had never been used.

After giving the picture frame a little makeover and adding some touches of neutral fall decor, this is what I ended up with!

And oh my gosh, I just LOVE IT! It’s super simple and clean looking.

But almost in a refreshing way- as if I were encouraging a little calmness on my door before the chaos of the holiday season.

If you are interested in the full tutorial for making this neutral fall wreath, please pop on over to Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont’s blog post! All the details and step-by-step photos can be found on their website- thanks for understanding!

So simple, but with a clean elegance that I’m not exactly known for in my wreath projects!

Plus, it’s even more stunning against our black front door, don’t you think?

I had such a great time creating this project for Goodwill. And I hope you don’t mind hopping over to their blog for the full tutorial.

Ironically enough, I created a Halloween version of a picture frame wreath but ran out of time to get it on my blog before the holiday! At least I have a leg up on 2021, though, right?

And if you want even more fall wreath ideas, I have an entire blog post dedicated to them!

Along the same lines, I also have this collection of other upcycled picture frame ideas for anyone looking for some frame inspiration, as well.

I am delighted to see you partner with Goodwill and other thrift stores – to help the rest of us ‘see’ the possibilities of great thrift store finds. Sustainable, creative and fun!

Thank you, Eileen. I went back and forth (in my head) whether to share them on my blog or not because I can’t provide the full tutorial (and ask everyone to click over). But the feedback has been completely positive, so I’ll keep doing it!

  2. I love that! I am now inspired to make a Christmas version for our church bulletin board! Thanks!

  3. Rebecca Payne says

I love this with and the colors you have chosen.

Several folks said it was quite soothing, which I think is perfect for the weeks leading up to the chaos of the holiday season!

  4. oh another super cool project by Sadie! thanks for sharing and other ideas to do with picture frames! was about to donate my frame accumulation but will reconsider re-using them again.

    • Sadie Seasongoods says

Great timing on my part, eh? 😉 Either way, it’s a win win- if you end up donating them anyway, someone else will certainly snap them up!

  5. Another great project. I like the width of the frame. I bet your next one will be wrapped in flannel strips–in Christmas plaids! My grapewine and straw wreathes are always so busy. Your frame has an Oriental/Zen peacefulness to it. I’d like a springtime one with faux cherry blossoms!

  6. Your frame decor makes a big statement, albeit the simple design, and I absolutely love it!
