Similar to cutting boards, cabinet doors (or cupboard doors, depending on your lingo) are an amazing DIY canvas. A large blank expanse of wood, painted or not, with minimal prep work to be done, usually limited to removing handles and hinges. And stores like Habitat ReStore or other architectural salvage stores almost ALWAYS have a large selection of them. So, it’s no surprise that I am always trying to conjure up ways to repurpose cabinet doors.
To date, I’ve only repurposed cabinet doors for a few projects. One of my first upcycling projects for the blog EVER, though, involved this idea with old door hardware that hangs in our entryway.
And this cupboard door that was perfect for upcycling into a sign for autumn with a few stenciled leaves in fall colors.
Other upcycling bloggers, though? They’ve repurposed cabinet doors in more ways than I can count!
And UNLIKE cutting boards, old cabinet doors have even more reuse options because they are typically bigger and often made of solid (or nearly solid) wood.
But, I digress! I’ve gathered some AMAZING upcycling ideas and repurposed projects for used cabinet doors and old cupboard doors for inspiration.
From simple signs to completely new furniture, I’m quite certain there’s an upcycled cupboard door in your future.

Well, what do you think? I am in absolute AWE of all the projects you can do with old cupboard door!
But I also love the simpler projects that any DIYer could do, as well. Such a full range of possibilities.
So many cabinet doors to upcycle, so little time. But I definitely think I need to put my thinking cap on and put him to good use.

I got a narrow cupboard door with a a lovely maple finish from Restore, painted the center with black chalkboard paint and wrote her suggested name for her new house on it; great gift!
