Your Favorite Projects from Sadie Seasongoods 2015

…and just like that, it’s nearly time to bring 2015 to a close. The end of this year snuck up on me like nobody’s business- somehow we went from Labor Day to Christmas in the blink of an eye.

I know just about all bloggers do a “Best of” post to close out the calendar year, so I appreciate you humoring me as we skip and frolic down memory lane. Some of you will recall these from months gone by, and for the friendly faces that are new to my little corner of the internet- you picked a great time to find me! I wrangled together the 12 most-viewed project posts from 2015- many of which won’t be surprises for long-time friends…but there are always a few that make me go, “Huh. So that one was popular?!”.

I’ll probably never get the chance to thank everyone individually, but please know that your kind words, your ideas, your funny comments, your shares, your social media follows, and your subscriptions mean the absolute world to me. I know, I know…I tend to get a little sappy.

So without further ado, your top 12 favorites from 2015 are…

Upcycling a Vintage Light Fixture into a Halloween Moon

Upcycling a Vintage Light Fixture into a Halloween Moon

I’ll admit it- when it comes to vintage light fixtures, I am a full-fledged addict. For whatever reason, they are a constant source of inspiration…particularly during Halloween. I had nearly forgotten about this large light globe in my craft room. But upon re-discovering it, I immediately had a vision of a flying witch in front of a Halloween moon!Read more ›

Upcycled Coffee / Tea Gift Boxes from the Thrift Store

Upcycled Coffee / Tea Gift Boxes from the Thrift Store

A new month means a new upcycled project for The Good Life Blog! If you’ll recall, I was asked to be a part of this fun group of thrifty bloggers, brought together by Goodwill Industries of the Upstate/Midlands South Carolina.

September usually marks the start of “Pumpkin-Flavored-Everything” Season… and for me, that means scrumptious flavored coffee! I guess chilly weather and hot beverages were on my mind the last time I was in my local Goodwill store because while I was in the kitchen section, I found these two cute wooden bins!Read more ›

Faux Stained Glass Suncatchers with Upcycled Scarf Fabric

Faux Stained Glass Suncatchers with Upcycled Scarf Fabric

Back when I made my Aromatherapy Eye Pillows from vintage scarves, I had mentioned that my good friend, Kate DiNatale Vintage, had given me a bag of vintage scarves that she couldn’t sell. As I pawed through them, I noticed that some of them reminded me of faux stained glass. So, I decided to upcycle them into suncatchers that would act as bird window decals. Read more ›

Upcycling in the Great Outdoors: Favorite Yard & Garden Projects

Upcycling in the Great Outdoors: Favorite Yard & Garden Projects

As the last hard frost date quickly approaches and local garden centers start coming to life, I am reminded of some of the fun repurposing projects I did for our yard last year! As you may recall, our yard qualified as Certified Wildlife Habitat which is something I’m proud of…AND I’m always looking for new ways to bolster our certification. I’m just as excited about getting my garden beds in shape for the Spring planting season and watching our azaleas bloom in Technicolor.

In other words? I’m ready for S-P-R-I-N-G!Read more ›

Vintage Wooden Bobbins Repurposed as Unique Christmas Ornaments

Vintage Wooden Bobbins Repurposed as Unique Christmas Ornaments

Because Greenville, SC (where I live) was historically a town filled with textile mills, the relics of those old mills are found in every vintage shop around- thrift shops, too. And repurposing those relics is a favorite pastime- including these vintage wooden bobbins. Because they were on the smaller side, I had an idea to turn them into unique Christmas ornaments !Read more ›

Mint Tins as Christmas Ornaments that Look Like Vintage Luggage

Mint Tins as Christmas Ornaments that Look Like Vintage Luggage

Vintage luggage covered in travel stickers is about iconic as it gets for me in the world of vintage decor. In the spirit of Christmas-ornament-making during this time of year, I decided to create my own vintage suitcases that could be hung on my tree. And to do this, I decided to upcycle some Altoids tins or mint tins to make it happen!

Creating a Snow Ornament from Upcycled Clear Ornaments

Creating a Snow Ornament from Upcycled Clear Ornaments

By now, just about all of us have tried the glitter-on-the-inside ornaments. It’s a great craft, wonderfully easy and inexpensive. Well, I decided to apply the same principles but with slightly different media- in this case, sea salt! Crazy? Not if you want to create a gorgeous, “no mess” snow ornament !Read more ›
