40+ Upcycling Ideas for Sports Stuff

40+ Upcycling Ideas for Sports Stuff

Sports “stuff” is something I find frequently at thrift stores and yard sales. From golf clubs, to skis, to tennis rackets, to bowling balls, I’ve just about seen it all while secondhand shopping. The good news, though, is that there are a TON of upcycling ideas for used sporting goods, so they won’t go to waste.

Over the years, I’ve upcycled sports gear in various ways. For whatever reason, I’m particularly drawn to vintage tennis rackets, especially the wooden kind.

I’ve created Christmas cross stitch on the racket heads

And for the vintage tennis racket handles that were leftover from my cross stitch project?

Boho jewelry or wooden pendants , and no, I’m not kidding. These came from vintage rackets. Aren’t they wild?

Who knew they looked like this inside…

Thankfully, there are tons of fantastic repurposed projects and upcycling ideas out there for sports stuff. From rackets to clubs to balls to footwear, a project is just waiting to happen.

So many good upcycling ideas for whichever sporting supplies or sports gear is lurking in your closet and garage. Even if you don’t think something is upcyclable, it probably actually is. Like this idea for vintage horse brass, which could certainly be applied to sports medals, too!

Do any of them speak to you? Or perhaps seeing them has sparked a new upcycling idea in your mind.

Either way, hopefully you’ll be able to put your used sporting goods to new reuse now! There is simply SO MUCH CREATIVITY out there for old sports stuff, isn’t there?
