Decorative Coasters as Upcycled Gifts

Decorative Coasters as Upcycled Gifts

Coasters are one of those things that check off a lot of boxes, aren’t they? They’re not overly expensive and serve a pretty important purpose for those of us with furniture that we care about. Decorative coasters are also easy to personalize to your unique tastes AND they fit the mold of a “general gift”. And let’s face it, this is the time of year when “gifts for anyone” can really come in handy.

You know what I mean…gifts for teachers, coworkers, neighbors, etc. And a set of unique coasters that are both decorative and functional work wonderfully for those generic gifting situations!

Of course, I’m most partial to upcycled coasters. Whether I give a makeover to plain coasters that I find at a thrift store

Or replicate a pricey set of decorative coasters with a little upcycling magic…

I can hardly ever pass up a set of plain or downright ugly coasters in a thrift store or at a yard sale. There are just so many ways to freshen them up!

And yes, I even made a couple of coasters in my book, “Crafting with Flannel”. Fabric coasters are easy and inexpensive to make, after all.

But, of course, there are a TON of upcycling ideas out there for unique coasters. And they all would be perfect as upcycled gifts for just about anyone. So, I gathered them into a single collection that hopefully gives you some crafty inspiration!

SO MANY GREAT IDEAS! For just about any decor style out there, too. From painted coasters that are a more simple craft, to fully upcycled coasters using any number of materials to create them.

Plus, these upcycling ideas don’t need to be gifts for someone. There are all sorts of ways to repurpose and upcycle things into coasters for your own home. Especially during different seasons and holidays throughout the year.

From the super simple to projects for the more seasoned crafter, I guarantee that there’s an upcycled coaster idea out there for everyone. And you won’t need to fight your way through crowded stores or bite your nails due to shipping delays.

I hope you’ve found some repurposing inspiration from this collection. Even if you’re just looking for a fun little craft project to distract you from the holiday chaos.

Hmm, I think I have a plain set of bamboo coasters that I could tinker around with myself! Between moving into our new house and the holidays, I could use some low-key crafting to soothe my frazzled nerves.

And, if you need a slightly opposite idea (i.e., upcycling coasters into something else entirely), here’s a DIY ornament idea for you. Recognize those vintage paper coasters from a few decades ago?
