Several years ago, I upcycled some metal buttons into Boho jewelry that resembled old coins. I loved how it turned out and wanted to reuse that same “craft” in a new way. But, this time I’m using the vintage buttons to make coin charms that I’ll use to decorate some old bottles. Country decor from the 1980s, the wooden pieces covered in ducks, geese, and hearts, are a pretty common sight in thrift stores. And while the motif is outdated, the pieces often have good bones and are made of heavy, solid wood. Baskets are, and will probably always will be, a staple of thrift stores everywhere. And they truly come in just about every size and shape you can imagine. The great thing about them, though, is that there are tons of ways to repurpose and upcycle wicker baskets.
Several years ago, I went to a Country Living Fair near Nashville, TN and fell in love with a wooden bucket. It was cute and had perfectly chippy turquoise paint – but it also had a $245 price tag.
