Pumpkin Sign / Pumpkin Patch Sign and Primitive Country Decor for Fall

Pumpkin Sign / Pumpkin Patch Sign and Primitive Country Decor for Fall

I’ll be honest with you – paper plate holders were not something I grew up with. Paper plates, yes, but designated wooden holders for them? Nope, not at all. There wasn’t much primitive country decor in my childhood home, so that’s probably why. Fast forward to my days as an upcycling blogger, though, and I couldn’t snap this one up fast enough! Because I had an upcycling idea to transform it into a pumpkin sign or pumpkin patch sign for Fall.Read more ›

Decorative Pumpkins from Monkey Pod Wood

Decorative Pumpkins from Monkey Pod Wood

Funny, but true, story about this project- it all started out when I found this apple-shaped wooden tray at the thrift store. It was May…Spring was on my mind…so I told myself I’d make a cute apple project in the Fall. I see Monkey Pod Wood all the time but never know what to do with them – but this one was just too cute a shape to pass up.

Alcohol Ink Painting on Glass Pumpkins for Fall Home Decor

Alcohol Ink Painting on Glass Pumpkins for Fall Home Decor

Every now and then, I choose to work on a project based on a crafting technique, as opposed to a really unique upcycling idea. And this, my friends, is one of those projects! You see, I’d been looking for a way to try out alcohol ink or alcohol paint paints for a long time. And I decided that creating alcohol ink art with glass pumpkins (or other round glass) would be fun for Fall home decor.Read more ›

Decorative Gourds by Painting Glass Jars or Bottles

Decorative Gourds by Painting Glass Jars or Bottles

After our junkin’ journey trip to Louisville, we came home with several interesting bottles of bourbon. And normally, that wouldn’t be a big deal…but as you may recall, we can no longer recycle glass in our county. So, I’m once again tasked with coming up with ways to recycle glass into projects. And this time, I decided to transform them into decorative gourds to use as autumn decor.

Halloween Porch Decorations with a Straw Tote

Halloween Porch Decorations with a Straw Tote

Sometimes I go to the thrift store and come away empty-handed, bummed out, and treasure-less. But then there are those magical times when I walk in and immediately have a “near-craft experience”. And by that, I mean I spot a thrifty treasure and know what I plan to do with it…immediately! That’s what happened when I spotted this straw tote and knew it was destined to become the Halloween porch decorations of my dreams.

How to Make a Fabric Pumpkin / Bandana Pumpkin

How to Make a Fabric Pumpkin / Bandana Pumpkin

After making these vintage bandana bowl covers, I couldn’t stop myself from snapping up vintage bandanas wherever I went. Over the years, I’ve collected them in all the colors of the rainbow, including plenty in orange and black. So I decided to teach myself how to make fabric pumpkins out of bandana fabric. I have a sneaking suspicion that bandana pumpkins are just going to be ADORABLE – what do you think?Read more ›

Halloween Basket / Halloween Candy Dish

Halloween Basket / Halloween Candy Dish

I developed this project by accident. I was in my local Goodwill with a specific project idea in mind, and headed to the shelf in Housewares where I thought I could find what I needed. Well, wouldn’t you know it, but Goodwill had secretly moved things around and put their selection of baskets in that spot instead! And from that sea of beige, this little white basket all but jumped out at me! I couldn’t help but see it as a Halloween basket, so I snatched it up.

Trinket Box and Farmhouse Fall Decor from Wooden Salad Bowls

Trinket Box and Farmhouse Fall Decor from Wooden Salad Bowls

Somewhere in my Pinterest meanderings, I stumbled across a trinket box that had been made by upcycling a pair of round bowls to look like Earth. I knew I wanted to do something similar to create decorative pumpkins, but I just needed the right set of wooden salad bowls. And then, there they were, staring me in the face from the Goodwill shelf.Read more ›

Making a Halloween Jack-o-Lantern from a Paper Plate Holder

Making a Halloween Jack-o-Lantern from a Paper Plate Holder

On a recent trip to Goodwill, I noticed one paper plate holder after another. You know the kind I’m talking about? The wicker paper plate holders that were once found in nearly every kitchen. Well, apparently they’re all getting donated to the thrift store! I knew I needed to come up with an upcycling idea for them, and a Halloween jack-o-lantern seemed like a good place to start.

Light Up Pumpkin and Jack-o-Lantern Light for Halloween

Light Up Pumpkin and Jack-o-Lantern Light for Halloween

I’ve mentioned it before and I’ll mention it again- one of my favorite places to go for both crafting inspiration and supplies is Habitat ReStore. And for some reason this year, I can’t stop making Halloween decor with vintage light fixtures. And this time, I’ve turned one into light up pumpkin and jack-o-lantern light.Read more ›
