I first noticed bucket and faucet planters at a high-end garden shop while on a shopping trip years ago. As charming as it was, though, the price was a little steep. I had a sneaking suspicion, however, that I could recreate the same look with a galvanized bucket and an old faucet. Read more ›
Driftwood Wreath for Coastal Decor this Summer

Up until 2009, I’d always lived near a shoreline- half my life along the shores of Lake Michigan, and half my life bouncing between the Gulf and the Atlantic in Florida. My fondest beach memories are those of the windswept, deserted beaches in Southwest Michigan that were filled with beach glass and pieces of driftwood. And to celebrate those memories, I decided to make a driftwood wreath for our front door this summer.
Craft Ribbon Storage with a Hanging Paper Towel Holder

So here I am again with something that can barely be called a “craft”. BUT, all of us DIYers and crafters need a little help in the Craft Room Organization struggle, right? And this form of craft ribbon storage is just the trick we all need.Read more ›
Beach Themed Jewelry from a Vintage Pearl Necklace

The first time I saw my friend, Emily, after she had returned from a trip to France, she was wearing this amazing pearl necklace crafted from linen and pearls. It was positively gorgeous in person and I just fell in love on the spot. But, seeing as I couldn’t just jet off to France and buy one myself, I decided to DIY my own version. Wouldn’t it be a fun project to upcycle a vintage pearl necklace from the thrift store into beach themed jewelry like this?Read more ›
Vintage Gallery Wall

I fell in love with the idea of a vintage gallery wall filled with empty frames; particularly, those vintage picture frames and old painting frames that were ornate, antique, and unusual. So I decided to make my own version of empty frame decor by collecting the frames and upcycling a few with spray paint.
Wine Charms from Vintage Cracker Jack Prizes

Once upon a time, an acquaintance of mine found some vintage Cracker Jack prizes at an antiques store. She thought that they would be perfect for upcycling into wine charms. And she very generously shared some of her collection with me so that I could make my own wine glass tags from them.Read more ›
Snow Ornaments from Clear Ornament Balls

By now, just about all of us have tried the glitter-on-the-inside ornaments. It’s a great craft idea for clear ornaments from the craft store, as it is wonderfully easy and inexpensive. Well, I decided to apply the same principles but with slightly different media- in this case, coarse salt! I wondered if I could create snow ornaments, like little snowballs hanging on a tree.Read more ›
Embroidery Hoop Wall Art with Vintage Doilies

Being a fan of vintage doilies means I am always looking for new ways to repurpose and display them. Wall decor is a great way to give them new life and falls right in line with the granny chic decor that is super popular right now. But instead of framing them in more traditional ways, this time I decided to upcycle some vintage doilies into embroidery hoop wall art.
Bracelet Holder from a Coffee Mug Tree

I had first seen this idea at thrift store counters. The thrifts had used a coffee mug tree as a bracelet holder. It displayed cuffs and bangles that they had for sale. It was SO simple and SO genius that I needed one for myself.Read more ›
