Outdoor Spring Decorations in a Garden Harvest Basket

Outdoor Spring Decorations in a Garden Harvest Basket

For this month’s Thrift Store Decor Team project, I decided to make some outdoor Spring decorations. Mild weather is settling in nicely around here, and I wanted to celebrate that with a fun and easy project that would bring fresh color to the porch. I found a garden harvest basket at a thrift store and decided that I’d use it to celebrate Spring.Read more ›

Pocket Watch Wall Clock from a Picture Frame

Pocket Watch Wall Clock from a Picture Frame

This multi photo frame was unusual enough to catch my eye at the thrift store. Right off the bat, it reminded me of a vintage pocket watch with its multiple round spots for clock faces. Of course, when the cashier remarked how unique the frame was and I mentioned the pocket watch familiarity that I was feeling, she looked at me like I was crazy. But that’s ok- I’m used to that by now. All I knew was that I planned to turn it into a pocket watch wall clock (albeit a fake one) to hang on the wall!Read more ›

DIY Garden Signs from Grill Forks

DIY Garden Signs from Grill Forks

Ok- I will fully admit that this is a truly zany idea of mine! There I was at the thrift store, looking for inspiration on the shelves. I was going to move aside this grill fork when it dawned on me that the barbecue fork could BE the inspiration I was looking for. What if I transformed it as part of some DIY garden signs? In other words, what if I used it as a stake instead of for steak?Read more ›

Easter Door Decorations with an Easter Basket Wreath

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, then you are all-too-familiar with my Junkin’ Journey series. In that series, I travel to towns across the South in search of wonderful treasures and shops to explore. On my most recent adventure to Durham, North Carolina, I found this hanging door basket at a quaint little thrift shop. And right away, I knew it was meant for Easter door decorations. Specifically as an Easter basket wreath!Read more ›

Decorating with Hobnail Milk Glass for Easter

Decorating with Hobnail Milk Glass for Easter

Hobnail milk glass is one of those things that you can actually find in thrift stores from time to time. Some people collect it, but plenty do not…and while I don’t snap up every piece I see, I couldn’t help myself with this oblong dish that I recently found.Read more ›

Bird Nest Decor on a Metal Candle Holder

I don’t know about you, but Spring is front and center in my mind. The trees are budding, the daffodils are in full bloom, and even my husband’s allergies have kicked in. Demijohn Vase from an Empty Wine Bottle

Demijohn Vase from an Empty Wine Bottle

Since my county no longer recycles glass, the last thing I planned on buying from the thrift store was an empty wine bottle. But this particular glass bottle was an unusual shape and seemed ideal for upcycling. It made me think of a demijohn bottle that you might see French country decor. So, repurposing it into a demijohn vase seemed like its decorative destiny.

DIY Towel Rack from Wood Wall Sconces

DIY Towel Rack from Wood Wall Sconces

Wood wall sconces or wall candle holders are pretty common at thrift stores these days. So, OF COURSE I needed to develop a fun new way to upcycle them. Wooden items are some of my favorite things to repurpose, so they were destined to make it on my blog at some point.

Recycled Tote Bag from a Framed Cross Stitch

Recycled Tote Bag from a Framed Cross Stitch

Framed cross stitch pieces are something I see at thrift stores all the time. And while there are modern versions of cross stitch that have become very popular (with sassy sayings), the older ones seem to get tossed in the donation pile. When I found this 1980s-era country cross stitch, I immediately thought that it would look SO CUTE as a recycled tote bag for grocery (or farmer’s market) shopping.Read more ›

DIY Wreath with a Valentine’s Candy Box

DIY Wreath with a Valentine’s Candy Box

When I was a little, I simply adored a chocolate heart box that held Valentine chocolates. Frilly, lacy, and covered in ruffles, they lined the grocery and drug store shelves. The fancier, the better, as far as I was concerned. And as I was brainstorming ideas for Valentine’s Day home decor this year, my mind went back in time to those Valentine’s candy boxes, and a simple craft project idea was born!Read more ›
