Recreating the Look of Vintage Metal Signs / Garage Signs with a Cabinet Door

Recreating the Look of Vintage Metal Signs / Garage Signs with a Cabinet Door

Every year, I always try and come up with one good patriotic project to post around July 4th. Sometimes the ideas come easily, but this year I struggled to think up even one upcycling idea in red, white, and blue! That is, until I found a bright red cabinet door at Habitat ReStore. I decided that it would be perfect for recreating the look of vintage metal signs / garage signs of days gone by. All it needed was a little touching up and a patriotic slogan!Read more ›

Coastal Coat Hooks using Repurposed Vintage Drawer Handles

Coastal Coat Hooks using Repurposed Vintage Drawer Handles

As luck would have it, my friends are constantly offering up freebies for me to repurpose for my blog. And so was the case with these dresser handles. My friend, Teri, had given her mother’s dresser a makeover for her daughter’s new apartment. When she asked if I wanted the old hardware, I eagerly took them off her hands. They looked JUST LIKE dock cleats / boat cleats to me, and I wanted to transform them into nautical wall decor.Read more ›

Harvest Basket Upcycled into Flower Basket for Front Porch Decor

Harvest Basket Upcycled into Flower Basket for Front Porch Decor

For this month’s Thrift Store Decor Team project, I decided to make some front porch decor to welcome Spring. Mild weather is settling in nicely around here, and I wanted to celebrate that with a fun and easy project that would bring fresh color to the porch. I found a harvest basket (or peach basket) at a thrift store and decided that I’d use it as a flower basket filled with Spring flowers on our front porch.Read more ›

Winter Decor with a Snowy Stenciled Sled

Winter Decor with a Snowy Stenciled Sled

When I spotted this outdated decorative sled at Goodwill, the calendar read May and our southern summer was beginning to rear its ugly, sweaty head. I tossed it in my cart and filed it away as a Christmas project for later that year. Well, wouldn’t you know it, but Christmas came and went…and the sled was still collecting dust in my garage. That’s when I decided to ditch the red and green for icy blue and silver, to transform the sled into winter decor.Read more ›

Buffalo Check Decor for Autumn

Buffalo Check Decor for Autumn

This project, my friends, was driven entirely by my obsession with one of Funky Junk Interiors’ most recent stencils. She created a Buffalo check stencil for her Old Sign Stencil Shop, and I have been dying to try it out. I decided to create some Buffalo check decor on a wood tray from the thrift store using her stencil. I thought it would be lovely as rustic cabin decor to use for my autumn decorating!Read more ›

Creating a Brochure Holder as Mountain Cabin Decor

Creating a Brochure Holder as Mountain Cabin Decor

This magazine rack was a thrift store find that came home with me, even though I had no plan in mind. But it was heavy and sturdy (i.e., good quality) and seemed like it was a blank canvas for a future project. It finally dawned on me that it would be PERFECT as a brochure holder / brochure stand in my in-laws’ cabin rental in North Georgia. Not only would it be functional for their rental property, but I could transform it into mountain cabin decor / lodge decor at the same time. Read more ›

Farm Sign and Country Wall Decor on a Cabinet Door

Farm Sign and Country Wall Decor on a Cabinet Door

While on a Junkin’ Journey to Blue Ridge, GA, I found a cabinet door / cupboard door that just screamed BARN! It would be perfect for upcycling into a farm sign or country wall decor, give how much it resembled a red barn. So, I snapped it up and brought it home with me. Read more ›
