Industrial Metal Card Catalog from Upcycled VHS Tape Drawers

Industrial Metal Card Catalog from Upcycled VHS Tape Drawers

I can’t be 100% certain, as I’ve not visited EVERY thrift store across the globe, but I’m 99% certain that every thrift has old VHS tape drawers (or cassette tape drawers) on their shelves. You know the ones I’m talking about, right? Usually 2 or 3 drawers wide…faux wood grain…stackable, etc?

Well, I decided that I needed to come up with a great reuse idea for them (because they’re so plentiful). And I knew exactly what I wanted to try to achieve: creating a DIY industrial metal card catalog table using this pair of old VHS tape drawers.Read more ›

Industrial Style Rotating Hardware Bin (from Tupperware!)

Industrial Style Rotating Hardware Bin (from Tupperware!)

This project has been rattling around in my head for nearly a year now, but up until recently, I wasn’t sure how to fully execute it. You see, I have coveted a vintage / industrial rotating hardware bin for a long time. But I couldn’t pull the trigger on an authentic one (too pricey) and I was staunchly against purchasing a reproduction. That’s when I started formulating a repurposed DIY version…using a plastic party platter dish that I found earlier this year at a thrift store.Read more ›

Pocket Watch Décor from a Picture Frame

Pocket Watch Décor from a Picture Frame

During a recent thrifting adventure (which was gloriously fruitful!), I found an unusual and unique picture frame. Right off the bat, it reminded me of one of those wonderful old pocket watches- the kind with multiple watch faces keeping time. Of course, when the cashier remarked how unique the frame was and I mentioned the pocket watch familiarity that I was feeling, she looked at me like I was crazy. But that’s ok- I’m used to that by nowRead more ›

Basic Kitchen Shelf to Modern Farmhouse Decor Storage Bins

Basic Kitchen Shelf to Modern Farmhouse Decor Storage Bins

Not too long ago, I had a REALLY fortuitous thrifting trip- as I drove home, I realized I had found materials for nine different projects. NINE! Maybe the thrifts were all freshly replenished, or maybe I was wearing a most impressive thinking cap, but either way, it was an adventure for the record books. And this plain kitchen wire shelf/rack was one of my finds.Read more ›

Broken Washboard Rustic Photo Frame

Broken Washboard Rustic Photo Frame

Whenever I stumble upon an antiques mall that has a “Clearance Section” I am like a heat-seeking missile with one goal in mind- to find a broken vintage treasure (on the cheap!) to become my next repurposing project. And so, when my eyes fell upon this rickety, rustic washboard…that was missing the actual washboard!…it was a moment of crafting kismet.Read more ›

Farmhouse Style Cat Toy Box and Storage

Farmhouse Style Cat Toy Box and Storage

Compared to many bloggers, my house is a hot mess…that’s why you’ll never see a “Sadie’s Home Tour” blog post from me!! Jon and I live a very big life in a fairly small house, and I am admittedly better at crafting that I am at interior design.

And while we don’t have kids, we do have two cats…which means the floors- all floors!- are often a minefield of cat toys and other inanimate objects that became cat toys, if you know what I mean.Read more ›

Antique Textile Spool Jewelry Tree

Antique Textile Spool Jewelry Tree

With a lengthy textile history, it’s no surprise that antique malls across North and South Carolina are often filled with cotton mill relics- spools, and spindles, and bobbins, and looms! They range in size, shape, condition, and price, but the question always remains:

What can I do with these??” Read more ›

Surveyed Enlightenment: Vintage Tripod Lamp

Surveyed Enlightenment: Vintage Tripod Lamp

A couple of years ago, a local store had a FANTASTIC “yard sale” which was more like a fancy flea market. At this sale, I bought two things- a pretty antique picture frame and a very cool, very trendy vintage surveyor’s tripod.Read more ›

Pulley Pendants: Steampunk’s Softer Side

When I found these itty-bitty pulleys way back in February 2014, I knew right away they were the perfect jewelry-making component. But months- nearly a YEAR!- went by before I thought about making them again. Well, my friends, the time has finally come.Read more ›
