Basic Kitchen Shelf to Modern Farmhouse Decor Storage Bins

Basic Kitchen Shelf to Modern Farmhouse Decor Storage Bins

Not too long ago, I had a REALLY fortuitous thrifting trip- as I drove home, I realized I had found materials for nine different projects. NINE! Maybe the thrifts were all freshly replenished, or maybe I was wearing a most impressive thinking cap, but either way, it was an adventure for the record books. And this plain kitchen wire shelf/rack was one of my finds.Read more ›

Coasters with Style- Salvaged Wood & Vintage Tweed

I have to admit- when I first decided to create coasters from salvaged wood, I had a very different vision in mind. Here’s how it began…Read more ›

Yesterday’s Barn Art for Today’s Tool Shed

Yesterday’s Barn Art for Today’s Tool Shed

Funny story…so, while I was out thrifting one day, I came across these two Pennsylvania Dutch hex signs. I didn’t actually know the term “hex signs” at the time, but I snapped them up with the intention of putting them in my Etsy shop. People collect Pennsylvania Dutch items…they were in relatively good shape and would be easy to ship, so it seemed like a no-brainer.Read more ›

Gardening Garb Clip Board

Gardening Garb Clip Board

I will be the first to admit that this project is pretty darn simple. But it evolved from a very real need- actually, a *few* very real needs. First, I was in my crafting room and emerged determined to use up some of my supplies…and second, I have a TERRIBLE habit of ripping off my gardening gloves in the garage, tossing them about, and then having a devil of a time finding them again.

So here we are- with a simple, but hopefully very useful project using salvaged wood, vintage clothespins, and some picture hanging wire.Read more ›

Spool Your Jewels- Necklace Rack

Spool Your Jewels- Necklace Rack

You’ve probably figured out by now that I’m a bit of a jewelry hoarder; Accessories have always been my “thing”. Funky necklaces, flowing scarves, and quirky handbags have always trumped any outfit I’ve worn- as is the fate of many short, round gals.

So jewelry storage- or in my case, display- is always a challenge. And by challenge, I mean “Project Opportunity”, obviously! And today’s post is no exception- creating a jewelry display using two of my favorite items: salvaged wood and vintage wooden spools wound with rich, glossy thread.Read more ›

Unlocked- Displaying Antique Key Plates

Unlocked- Displaying Antique Key Plates

One of my all-time favorite stories from a trip to Ireland was about the famous colored doors in Dublin. Folklore says that the doors were painted in bright colors so that drunk Irishmen could find their own home after a night of many pints- apparently there had been a slew of “stranger in my bed” incidents, which led to the pretty painted doors.

I’ve now heard that that tale is rubbish- but it left an indelible impression on me and I’ve been enamored with painted antique key plates ever since. This post contains affiliate links for your crafting convenience.Read more ›

Master Bedroom Evolution and Doily Display

Master Bedroom Evolution and Doily Display

Our entire Master Bedroom was inspired by an old chippy door panel that I found at Piccadilly Prairie in Minneapolis. It barely fit in my suitcase and I was terrified that all of its chippy goodness would flake away in transit, but the Vintage Gods must have been smiling down upon me, as it survived just perfectly.Read more ›
