For many years now, I’ve admired the look of a vintage Skotch Kooler. It works so wonderfully as plaid Christmas decor, but I rarely find them at local antiques shops. I did, however, find a red Thermos cooler while thrifting earlier this year, and an idea began to form.Read more ›
30+ Upcycling Ideas for Alternative Christmas Trees

In the world of upcycling, there are two fundamental truths. Anything round (or round-ish) can become a pumpkin and anything triangular can become a Christmas tree. And as much as I love real pumpkins and real Christmas trees, I also love unique versions such as the alternative Christmas trees that I’ve gathered for your inspiration.Read more ›
Holiday Card Holder and Buffalo Check Christmas Decor

Sometimes my Christmas projects are really “out there” as far as upcycling ideas go, but this one is, perhaps, not so “out there”. It was, however, fortuitous for many reasons, which I’ll explain momentarily. But let’s first chat about this wooden jewelry box I recently found at the Goodwill Bins. I decided that it was the perfect piece to upcycle into a holiday card holder.Read more ›
DIY Candy Cane Decorations from Wooden Walking Canes

There are a few Christmas “staples” that I’ve never created for my blog, and DIY candy cane decorations are one of them. And honestly, I had no earnest intentions to do something about that, until I came across some wooden walking canes at Goodwill.Read more ›

It was, in fact, not much larger than a magazine (length- and width-wise, not depth-wise). And that’s when I decided it would be PERFECT for my endless collection of Christmas magazines.
Chamberstick as a Christmas Candy Dish

Truth be told, I didn’t know the word “chamberstick” before this project and blog post came about. You see, I stumbled up one, and then another chamberstick in the span of a single weekend- at two different thrift stores. I purchased them both thinking that I would figure out a project for these “old time-y candlesticks with handles” (which is what I Googled). Read more ›
Upcycled Christmas Ornaments from Florentine Coasters

Vintage Florentine pieces are pretty common at antiques shops- you know what I’m talking about, right? The gold painted pieces like trays, jewelry boxes, etc.? Well, for years I’ve admired Florentine coasters and always secretly thought about turning them into Christmas ornaments. I just couldn’t bear the thought of purchasing a perfectly good, full-priced set and doing that. Read more ›
