Potion Bottles with Color Changing Paint and a Vintage Spice Rack

I absolutely love coming up with new upcycling ideas and repurposed projects for Halloween decor. And this time, I decided to take a Harry Potter – inspired route with a vintage spice rack. I had this vision in my mind for potion bottles – like the kind you’d find in Hogwarts – and wanted to give my idea a go.Read more ›

Halloween Figurines for Scary Halloween Decorations

Halloween Figurines for Scary Halloween Decorations

When you go to a thrift store (or garage sale…or flea market), there are ALWAYS some figurines available. Whether they are ceramic, porcelain, clay, or other material, figurines are a secondhand shop staple. And as I was on my thrifting adventures over the past few months, I picked up a few along the way. I had a sneaking suspicion with just a little bit of paint, I could create Halloween figurines as scary Halloween decorations with them.

Halloween Candy Bowl / Ghost Decoration from a Sewing Bucket

Even though I have been trying oh-so-hard to work on projects from my garage stash, I still can’t help but swing by a thrift store now and then. Because, you just never know what you’ll find. Halloween Basket or Halloween Candy Dish

Halloween Basket or Halloween Candy Dish

I developed this project by accident. I was in my local Goodwill with a specific project idea in mind, and headed to the shelf in Housewares where I thought I could find what I needed. Halloween Cookie Jar and Haunted House Decor

There I was in Goodwill (how typical of me), casually strolling through the housewares. I wasn’t hunting for anything in particular, when I came across this vintage cookie jar. It was chipped and cracked, so I knew it was primed for a makeover. But not just any makeover – a Halloween makeover! With a little paint and some creativity, I could transform it into a Halloween cookie jar! Read more ›

Poison Bottles / Glass Apothecary Jars as Vintage Halloween Decorations

Poison Bottles / Glass Apothecary Jars as Vintage Halloween Decorations

Years ago, I picked up some old medicine bottles from an antiques store that was in its final days before closing. I couldn’t believe how good the price and later lamented the fact that I hadn’t scooped up all the glass apothecary jars they had. But, either way, I knew they would be PERFECT as vintage Halloween decorations. And they also spawned some other scary Halloween decoration ideas…Read more ›
