On one of my typical thrifting adventures, I spied this mini chest of drawers near the cash register at the thrift shop. I didn’t really fancy the painted fruit “still life” that covered it, but I WAS curious about the wood underneath the paint. The idea of a “makeunder” floated through my mind as I envisioned a vintage library card catalog as the end result.

I’ve upcycled a LOT of thrift store finds into jewelry storage and organization projects over the years. Probably because I have such an affinity for vintage costume jewelry. Give me flashy rhinestones over diamonds any day of the week! And while most of my jewelry organizers have been “quirky”, none of them would be considered “elegant”. A friend of mine found this wooden gun rack at a thrift store and figured I could upcycle it into something fun for my blog. And she was right! I mulled over different upcycling ideas before it occurred to me that it could become a fabric organizer for scrap fabric. And transforming it into my vision wouldn’t be hard at all!
