When it comes to my group of friends, I am certainly not the only one who favors Fall over all the other seasons. Between pumpkin spice lattes, football season starting up, and all the fun outdoor activities, it’s just the best time of year. And no matter your age or where you live, there are tons of autumn craft projects to work on. Which is why I put together this fun collection of Fall arts and crafts to make this year.
Yarn Pumpkins
Here’s a great idea for anyone who knits or crochets and has leftover yarn balls laying around. Don’t they look adorable when jazzed up as little yarn pumpkins? Not only is it a fun and easy craft project for this time of year, but it’s also super thrifty, as well.
Chic Sheaf
Talk about a gorgeous way to dress up wheat for a simple but eye-catching Fall centerpiece. This is definitely one of those fall craft ideas that looks straight out of a magazine, isn’t it?
Fall Arts and Crafts with Wool
Decorating toy trucks, especially of the vintage variety, has been super trendy for the past few years. And while it’s often associated with Christmas decorations, a fall version with mini pumpkins like this is just as cute. Plus, these needle-felted pumpkins are not only easy to make, but satisfying, as well.
Feathers from Fabric
If you have any old wool or flannel shirts that you’ve been meaning to donate, maybe hang onto them instead. Because they are ideal for upcycling into fabric feathers like these– especially if you like Fall decor with a Bohemian twist.
Weaving for Fun
Fiber crafts from days gone by, such as weaving, have made a huge comeback in recent years. We can probably thank all the home-based time from the past few years for that! And there are some surprising thrift store finds that can be upcycled into looms like this– for a modern take on a classic crafting technique.
Decoupaged Fall Arts and Crafts
If you’re a fan of decoupaging with paper napkins, then this is definitely a fall craft right up your alley. AND the tutorial has some great tips for getting a wrinkle-free surface that has ALWAYS alluded me in my decoupage endeavors. I definitely need to try this craft technique again and will be on the hunt for some fun fall-themed napkins now.
Pumpkin Pillow
Adding some Fall-themed throw pillows to your sofas and beds is always a fun way to add touches of autumn to your home. And in this case, a (clean) thrift store pillow was paired up with a (clean) thrift store flannel shirt.
Crafting with Books
You know all those books at the thrift store or the ones in your donation pile? Well, crafting with them instead is always an option. This little book pumpkin is SO cute and is definitely a fun fall craft to work on this season.
Metallic Leaf Wreath
There are fall leaf wreaths, and then there are METALLIC leaf wreaths, which truly take it up a notch. Gold, bronze, and copper are perfect for the season, and the subtle shine elevates the wreath into elegant territory.
Fabric Pumpkins
Admittedly, this is one of those fall craft ideas for anyone who know a little bit about sewing. But even so, fabric pumpkins like these are surprisingly easy to make. And they won’t rot in warm weather if you’re still waiting for Fall temps to arrive. They also look adorable in any number of fabrics- flannel, bandanas, velvet, even your old sweaters.
Leaf Stamping
This is the kind of fall craft idea that might make you feel like a kid, but the results are far more grown up this time around. Because leaf-stamped tea towels like this is not only a fun art and craft, but the end results are ideal as hostess gifts throughout the season.
Stained Glass Pumpkins
Starting as clear glass pumpkins from craft and thrift stores, these stained glass pumpkins are surprisingly easy to make with the right kinds of paint. And yes, they look just as gorgeous in the daylight, too…
Embroidery Hoop Wreath
The embroidery hoop is an unsung hero in the crafting world and is perfect for a few non-embroidery projects. Specifically, it works really well as a simple wreath form, like this fresh take on an autumn wreath.
Boho Basket Pumpkin
File this one under Boho Fall arts and crafts. Because, depending on the shape, some wicker baskets are perfect for upcycling into DIY pumpkins. This one was particularly well-suited for the task and was upcycled into a “gourd-geous” Boho pumpkin with the help of some all-natural craft supplies.
Fall Arts and Crafts from Nature
If you’re anything like me, then a long walk is an important part of your day. My morning walks get me out of the house and away from my computer, which I’m yoked to for the entire work day. And I love picking up little treasures along the way- including feathers. Feathers that can be displayed like this for some very cool, all-natural Fall decor.
Fall Craft Ideas from the Recycle Bin
Wine and liquor bottles from your recycle bin are free craft supplies just waiting for the right idea. And here’s one that’s perfect for fall: painting them to look like pumpkins and gourds. Plus, it’s fun to hunt for bottles that have a gourd-y or pumpkin-y shape, too.
Woodland Wreath
All the woodland things- mushrooms, moss, forest critters, and more- are perfect for fall arts and crafts. And assembling them into a sweet little wreath like this (using a cheesebox) is such a fun project to work on. Especially when the results are this adorable!
