Heart Decor for Valentine’s Day

Heart Decor for Valentine’s Day

As Valentine’s Day nears, you start to see allllll the heart decor. From wreaths to tchotchkes and everything in between, there are hearts everywhere- whether you’re a fan of Valentine’s Day or not!

But, I suppose one of my favorite aspects of heart decor is the shape itself. A heart is pretty easy to draw, paint, or cut out; at least compared to other shapes. And a quick scan of a thrift store shelf will likely yield any number of 1980s’ country decor objects with hearts on them.

Which means there are PLENTY of upcycling options out there, just waiting to be discovered!

So I thought it would be fun to put together a collection of heart decor project ideas, all of which have been upcycled. I’ve certainly made my fair share- remember this wall decor I made from an antique carpet beater?

Or this Valentine’s Day “wreath” I made from a vintage chocolate box! Remember how ornate and over-the-top those heart boxes used to be? Covered in ribbons and ruffles and lace?

I even included a couple of heart-shaped projects in my book, “Crafting with Flannel”. Including these page pocket bookmarks, which I’ve also made from damaged embroidered linens, as well.

Ok, maybe those *aren’t* exactly heart decor, per se. But they sure are cute and are a great little gift for Valentine’s Day, too.

Anyway, back to the decor ideas. Remember how I mentioned the reasons I liked a heart shape? Well, in addition to those, they’re easy to stitch, too! Or in my case, cross stitch on a vintage cane placemat…

Anyway, enough of my Valentine’s Day projects (for now). There are tons of great ideas to make your own versions of heart decor during Cupid season, and I’ve gathered a few of my favorites below!

SO MANY fabulous heart-shaped project ideas here! Despite focusing on the same shape, they’re all so different and unique, which I really admire.

And let’s face it, too. Is there anything cuter or more wonderfully cheeky than vintage Valentines? I mean, I love old Christmas cards…but vintage Valentines might take the cake.

And don’t worry- no vintage Valentine’s Day cards were harmed in this project. I used printed scans instead!

So, what say you? Will you be upcycling anything into heart decor for Valentine’s Day this year? And did any of these projects inspire your plans?

Or should I say “pans”, as the case was in this industrial-inspired V-day decor project

And who knows? Most of these are Valentine crafts for adults- not in a fun/naughty way, but in the materials and craft techniques used. So perhaps you and your sweetie can work on some heart decor projects together!

Either way, I hope you enjoyed this collection of upcycling ideas for heart-shaped decor. I love gathering the projects for these collection posts because I always feels inspired by the variety of the included projects! I have so many talented blogger pals, too, and love showing you their projects as well as my own.

Speaking of creativity and inspiration, I would love your input! I’ve had these wooden heart bowls in my storage unit for a few years now and they are DYING for a project. What would you do with them to really bring them to life? Drop me an email or let me know in the comments below!

Hi There Sarah, I’m wondering how you styled the fireplace brass candelabra from a Fall post for the Christmas season and if you are planning a Valentine’s Day or other seasonal/holiday arrangement with it. I previously commented that I have the same one so very curious as to what your creative ideas are as to how to use/style it. Thanks! LOVE YOUR BLOG. It’s the only one I subscribe to and I look forward to every post!
