100+ Upcycling Ideas from the Thrift Store Decor Team in 2019

If you are a subscriber to my blog, then you may have noticed a theme on the second Wednesday of each month. That, my friends, is what we call “Thrift Store Decor Team” day! Some of the best upcycling bloggers around (aka, the Thrift Store Decor Team) get together and throw a little makeover party with upcycling ideas for all their secondhand finds.

And now that 2019 is nearly over, we’re taking a look back at some of our favorite upcycling ideas from the past year. I’ve selected one favorite project from each of the members of the Thrift Store Decor Team, but keep scrolling to see the full collection!

Best Upcycling Ideas from the Thrift Store Decor Team – 2019

Faux Cactus Decor

Of all the Thrift Store Decor Team day projects that I posted throughout the year, this has to be my favorite! I’ll never forget standing in Habitat ReStore for several moments as the upcycling idea formed in my mind. But they were PERFECT for my “Thrift the Look: Boho Decor” post that I was working on at the time. Can you guess what I used to make them??

Candy Dish Candles by House of Hawthornes

I’m such a huge fan of House of Hawthornes (we have a very similar love for all things vintage) that I had a hard time picking my favorite project of hers. But I really loved this handmade candle in a candy dish that she made. Simple, but effective, what a terrific way to reuse a lovely covered dish like this!

Watermelon Wood Bowl Makeover by Refresh Restyle

I’ll never forget when I first saw this project earlier this year and thought, “DUH – what a PERFECT way to paint a plain wooden bowl!”. I mean, honestly, does it get any cuter than this??

Striped Serving Tray by Domestically Speaking

Domestically Speaking finds a LOT of fun things at her local thrift stores, and this beat up cutting board was no exception. She gave it such a simple makeover, but it really made quite the difference!

Vintage Record Table Cart by My Repurposed Life

Sometimes thrift store makeovers don’t require a drop of paint. But rather they need a LOT of cleaning and replacing old wood that has rotted or wasn’t even good hardwood to begin with. And that’s just what My Repurposed Life did to this record table cart which really breathed new life into it.

Adirondack Chair Makeover

Molded plastic furniture can really take a beating under the sun. So, when this plastic Adirondack chair set became faded and bleached out, My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia gave it a fresh makeover!

Picture Frame Makeover

Our Southern Home has one of the most lovely homes around – she is QUITE the decorator! And I was blown away at this super simple, but crazy effective touch that she gave to this mostly-gold picture frame. Seriously – it made SUCH a difference…

Succulent Display with Old Movie Reels

There are a LOT of ways to display succulents (real or fake) out there in the world. But this one might be the most unique AND the most charming that I’ve ever seen!
