As much as I love winter- and I genuinely do- I can’t help to start feeling antsy as February melts into March. Not only do the days get longer and the temperatures gently warm, but I’m ready for a little more color inside our home. And you, too, have some lingering winter doldrums, perhaps these spring decorations will be the perfect antidote. Not only are they fresh and pretty, but they’re upcycled and easy to DIY, too.

Decoupaged Eggs

As Spring rolls around, you certainly can’t go wrong when decorating with eggs. But these decoupaged versions are a cut above the rest- and they even start with plain plastic eggs you can easily find at the thrift store. I love how gorgeous they look together- each one is slightly different but they go together delightfully.

Vintage Seed Packets

Vintage seed packets are like little works of art, aren’t they? And the idea of buying seeds and starting your garden is a perfect theme for your Spring decorations, too. Not only is creating a garden-inspired vignette like this mood lifting, but thrifting for all the little elements is dangerously fun, too.

Here’s another idea for displaying old seed packets, as well.

Recycled Moss Bunny

No Spring decorations are complete without a bunny. But this mossy version is particularly special on the inside. Would you believe me if I told this cutie started out as something from your recycling bin?

Botanical Spring Decorations

Vintage botanical prints are so popular right now that it’s fairly easy to find modern reproductions of them in trendy boutiques and design centers. But you can also print copies of the original designs for your own framing endeavors, perhaps using an old window like this.

And even if they’re lovely to look at all year long, botanical prints are particularly lovely as Spring unfurls.

Garden-Inspired Book Makeover

If eggs and bunnies are too cutesy for you, then perhaps floral pastels and a cottage garden touch is more your speed. And you can get that look by repurposing a few hardcover books from the thrift store like this.

Mushroom and Moss Wreath

With mushrooms continuing to be everyone’s favorite forest dweller, we couldn’t discount them for Spring. And this mushroom and moss wreath is a great way to get that cottagecore look with all the Spring vibes. The bright green moss, the friendly daisies, and the pink mushrooms are truly a delightful combo for your front door.

Spring Decorating with Milk Glass

Easter eggs hidden in the grass is quintessentially Spring for many of us. And you can easily recreate that look, albeit miniaturized, in some vintage milk glass bowls and vases from the thrift store.

Plus, nothing is glued down so the milk glass can be reused throughout the rest of the year, too.

Sugar Eggs

When my mom would decorate for Easter, she’d always pull out her collection of sugar Easter eggs. She’d made them herself and I was OBSESSED with them as a child. And now that this tutorial shows me how to make them, I’m going to have to get busy. Especially since I thrifted some little fluffy chicks last year, and I’ve yet to use them…

St. Patrick’s Day Garland

Here’s a fun way to add a little Irish charm to your mantel this Spring- and it upcycles two different things. This St. Patrick’s Day garland repurposes some 1980s-era foil shamrock doilies and incorporates rainbow-colored pompoms made from yarn scraps. Uncomplicated but cheerful, it’s an easy upcycle that brings freshness and color to your home after a long, grey winter.

Watering Cans as Spring Decorations

If April showers don’t water your Spring plants, then a watering can will have to do. Which makes it a fun element to incorporate into your spring decor. Especially if you decoupage it like this one for a floral pop of color.

Birds in a Basket

I love birds and I love thrifted baskets, so putting the two of them together makes complete sense to me. The wicker texture works delightfully with a bird’s nest as Spring decor, doesn’t it? And the painted rim adds just the right amount of fresh color.

April Showers Bring…

Yes, it’s true, a lot of the Spring Wreaths involve bright and colorful flowers. They just go hand-in-hand with the season, don’t they? And here’s a fun and unique way to display them: tucked into a vintage umbrella just like this! Not only does the tapered umbrella evoke the same look as a fresh bouquet from the florist, but the umbrella is a fun nod to all the April showers that just happen to bring…you guessed it, May flowers.

Spring Cloche

Spring is a season that vignettes were made for. A vase of flowers, a few eggs, and something fresh and sweet under a thrifted cloche- it works delightfully at this time of year. Especially if you’re able to thrift the glass dome and interesting base, too!

Springtime Centerpiece

One of the most delightful aspects of milk glass is how well the different designs and styles work together. Assembling a mismatched collection of vases with different patterns in varying sizes creates a stunningly simple centerpiece like this. Not only is thrifting for vintage milk glass vases fun, but they look STUNNING when filled with spring flowers, like daffodils.

Bird Nest Decor

If using metal candleholders like these to hold candles isn’t really your thing, what about using them to display something else instead? Those bases are the perfect size to display faux bird nests during Spring for seasonal decor that is positively darling.

Spring Door Decor

Hanging a thrift store tote bag or purse on your front door sounds silly, but check out how lovely it is as an unexpected “wreath”! Filling it with flowers that can easily be changed out as seasons change, it’s a great way to extend the life of an old bag.

Vintage Postcards as Spring Decorations

I am such a sucker for vintage postcards, and these Spring or Easter versions are no exception. There are numerous ways to display them, and they’re a charming element to any number of Spring vignettes in your home.

Luck-o-the-Milk-Glass

Vintage milk glass vases continue to be a popular thing to collect these days- for weddings, vintage decor, and more. But what about (temporarily!) embellished for seasonal holidays? These milk glass vases were done up elegantly for St. Patrick’s Day and it was SO easy to do! Imagine the possibilities for other holidays and seasons, as well…
